About the series
What it is
HL is a series of circular connectors for inter-module connections inside downhole tools: logging sondes, inclinometers, telemetry and other electronics that work in pressure housings. The body is cylindrical, the contacts are pins and sockets, the joint is sealed by O-rings on the body; some versions have a reinforcing ring.
Versions
The designation reads HL + body diameter + number of contacts: HL1910 is a Ø19 mm body with 10 contacts.
- HL1910 — hybrid pair: plug with 4 pins and 6 sockets, receptacle with 6 pins and 4 sockets, length 46.1 mm; versions with a reinforcing ring.
- HL1904 — Ø19 mm, 4 contacts: plug 31 mm long and receptacle 50.5 mm long.
- HL1612 — Ø16 mm, 12 contacts, length 33 mm.
- HL1206 — Ø12 mm, 6 contacts, length 33 mm.
- HL1201 — Ø12 mm, single contact, SW8 hexagon, length 41.8 mm.
Insulator material and temperature
The insulator is chosen for the well temperature: PBT −40…+125 °C (+150 °C short-term), PPS −40…+150 °C (+175 °C short-term), PEEK −40…+250 °C (+300 °C short-term). Working pressure 0.1–80 MPa, up to 120 MPa short-term; vibration 10–1000 Hz at 196 m/s², shock 490 m/s².
Electrical ratings
Contacts Ø1 mm rated 5 A and Ø1.5 mm rated 10 A, contact resistance not more than 5 and 2.5 mΩ respectively, insulation resistance at least 1000 MΩ, test voltage 1000 V, 500 mating cycles.
What it replaces
The series is selected in place of downhole circular connectors of other makers by body diameter, number and diameter of contacts, insulator material and pressure. For a replacement send the designation or a drawing and we will check the mounting dimensions and contact layout.

Questions and answers
How do I read the designation HL1910?
HL is the series, 19 is the body diameter in millimetres, 10 is the number of contacts. HL1904, HL1612, HL1206 and HL1201 read the same way.
Which insulator material should I choose?
By the well temperature: PBT works up to +125 °C, PPS up to +150 °C, PEEK up to +250 °C with short-term heating to +300 °C. Deep and hot wells call for PEEK.
What pressure does the connector withstand?
Working pressure 0.1–80 MPa, up to 120 MPa short-term. The joint is sealed by O-rings on the body.
What contacts and currents does the series have?
Contacts Ø1 mm rated 5 A and Ø1.5 mm rated 10 A with contact resistance of 5 and 2.5 mΩ or less. HL1910 is a hybrid pair: 4 pins and 6 sockets in the plug and the opposite in the receptacle.
How does HL differ from HTPM?
HL is a separable connection between two parts inside the tool housing; HTPM is a feedthrough through a wall that separates media at different pressures. In one tool they often work together: HTPM at the boundary with the well fluid, HL between the modules inside.
