About the series
What it is
BMA are blind-mate coaxial connectors with 50 Ω characteristic impedance and an operating frequency up to 18 GHz: the module is inserted into the unit without access to the connector, and the connection compensates for misalignment. Flange-mount versions with an O-ring seal.
Versions
- Flange-mount BMA plugs and sockets.
- Adapters 3.5 mm ↔ BMA and 3.5 mm ↔ SBMA (reduced-size BMA) in all gender combinations, VSWR < 1.15 up to 18 GHz.
Where it is used
Mating modules to units and backplanes in transceiver and onboard equipment.

Questions and answers
What is SBMA?
A reduced-size variant of the BMA interface; adapters to 3.5 mm with VSWR < 1.15 up to 18 GHz are available for it.
What is the frequency range of A1-CONNECT BMA?
Up to 18 GHz at 50 Ω.
Why is blind-mate coupling needed?
So that the module connects to the unit or backplane on installation, without access to the connector or precise alignment.
