About the series
What it is
SMP are subminiature coaxial connectors for blind-mate coupling: fast connection, vibration resistance, tolerance to axial and radial misalignment. Characteristic impedance 50 Ω, operating frequency up to 40 GHz, VSWR 1.3 (typical), insertion loss not more than 0.06·√f dB, insulation resistance not less than 5000 MΩ, dielectric withstanding voltage 500 V, −55…+165 °C. Body — beryllium copper, gold-plated brass or passivated stainless steel; insulator PTFE or glass (for hermetic versions).
Versions
- PCB-mount plugs SMP-JYD1 (threaded), SMP-JHD1 and SMP-JHD2 (board-mount), SMP(M)-JHD2 — each in three detent options: S (smooth bore, no detent), L (limited detent), F (full detent).
- Right-angle cable-mount sockets SMP-KW-T405 for Tflex-405 cable.
- Adapters SMP ↔ 1.85 / 2.4 / 2.92 mm (VSWR < 1.3 up to 40 GHz).
Where it is used
Dense module packaging on PCBs, unit-to-unit mating in racks and enclosures, phased arrays, communications and onboard equipment.

Questions and answers
What do the S, L and F suffixes on SMP mean?
The detent level at mating: S — smooth bore with no detent, L — limited detent, F — full detent; a mated pair usually combines different levels so that the connector unmates on the intended side.
What is blind-mate coupling for?
To connect a module to a board or unit without access to the connector and without precise alignment: SMP tolerates axial and radial misalignment.
What is the frequency range of A1-CONNECT SMP?
Up to 40 GHz at VSWR 1.3; adapters to 1.85, 2.4 and 2.92 mm — with VSWR < 1.3 up to 40 GHz.
